The Giving Garden
The Giving Garden is 4 plots (G21-22 and H21-22) where we grow food specifically for those in need in our community. Once it is time for harvest, there will be deliveries 2-3 times a week to the Salvation Army food shelf.
If you have extra produce in your gardens that you would like to donate for our deliveries, there is a large bin on the west side of the shed where you can put your donations. Deliveries will most likely be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and will start once we begin seeing donations!
If you would like to volunteer to help with the Giving Garden, we would truly appreciate your help and enjoy getting to know you. We are asking individuals or families if they would be willing to commit to one week of watering, weeding and helping to harvest the plots.
Why do we do have a Giving Garden?
We have been blessed by God with the gardens and want to be obedient to His calling to reach out to those in need around us, including the hungry and the homeless. The Bible says:
"Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ " Matthew 25:37-40
